Plant Morphology

PVI is fairly low on this strain. While differences can be observed in flower shape and terpene profile, the average height and yield across phenotypes makes for a uniform grow. The Devil Fruits is an average-height plant with a moderate preference for vertical over horizontal growth. Floral initiation starts around day 21/ Excellent stacking and average internodal spacing make for great yields. Flowers are long and spear-shaped with granular calyxes and med/high density. Rich green flowers and leaves indicate a healthy and vigorous plant that is easy to grow. Trichome accumulation is above average, with buds covered in a frosty white layer of trichomes.

Overall this cross is very representative of an even split of the two parents. Apical preference for growth with strong stacking and sugar from the Sour Strudel and with the larger buds and minty gas of the Gas Berry. Gas Berry terps are dominant but you can smell the hints of sweetness from the Sour Strudel.

Terpenes

Gas, chem, wintergreen mint / berry, grape, sweet, funk.

Effect

Space and relaxing. Devil Fruits is a great strain for chilling and unwinding. While it won’t put you to sleep, we would recommend Devil Fruits to be used when your responsibilities are limited!

Notes from the Grower(s): Devil Fruits Auto is the newest strain by the team at Dirty Bird Genetics, held aside to release on our favorite day of the year: Halloween!  This strain is all treat, no trick. It is one of the most promising cultivars we’ve worked on to-date. As excited as we are to continue breeding it forward, this F1 cohort shines in its own right and is definitely worthy of a spot in the grow.

Both parents are very well represented in this cross of two house-bred standouts: Sour Strudel F2v2 (i.e. version 2 of our F2  Sour Strudel line) and Gas Berry F1 (Peach Crescendo RF3 x [Lemon Cherry Cookies x Sour Apple]) . The Sour Strudel is beloved by our team for its remarkable trichome production, sugary apple and berry terpene profile, strong lateral branching, and its vibrant purple and green coloring. It’s a very well-proportioned plant with very little leaf to trim when all is said and done. Fattening up the Sour Strudel’s long, cylindrical flowers and improving its density were the goals of this cross.

On the other hand the Gas Berry–the chosen father of this cross–is short, stout, and incredibly sturdy, and it develops incredible fist-sized colas that are as fat and greasy as it comes. It has proven to be one of our favorite plants to breed with, reliably passing on its sturdy structure, its gas and berry terpene profile, its pebble-like bract/calyx structure, and the yield and density of its flower. In bringing these two powerhouses together, we got the Devil Fruits Auto, a cultivar that wound up being everything we had hoped for and more.

The Devil Fruits Auto is an average height plant with a moderate preference for vertical over horizontal growth. It boasts average internodal spacing and excellent stacking, putting every inch of the space it occupies to good use. The flower grows long and conical like its Sour Strudel mother, but the Gas Berry lends girth and granularity to its structure, improving yields and strengthening its density. These plants are reliably covered in a frosty, white layer of trichomes, a trait inherited from both of its parents. Terpenes–forever one of the most important things to our team–are incredible! We found one phenotype that leans more Gas Berry with a gassy, wintergreen dominance, and another that leans toward the berry chapstick scent of both parents. Naturally, you will also find plants that are a mix of the two: berry vaseline; some lighter notes, some deeper notes; fruity and gassy; even grapefruit and citrus make an appearance on some plants. One thing you’ll find on many of these is that they are punctuated by a minty, wintergreen undertone that scratches the back of your nose and leaves you curious for more. When all is said and done, a plot of these plants certainly won’t leave you longing for interesting diversity as far terpenes are concerned.

Overall this cross is a very representative split of its two parents, both powerhouses in their own right. Apical preference for growth with strong stacking and sugar make for a great scrog or sea-of-green grow, and complex gas and berry terpenes do not disappoint. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and stay tuned for more of this strain to come!
