Plant Morphology
Heavy Metal Breath is an easy to grow strain, with floral initiation starting around week 5 and steady floral growth from week 6 through harvest. Primarily apically dominant, Heavy Metal Breath experiences a mild stretch during bloom and forms long medium-density central colas. Slightly above average internodal spacing allows for good airflow and great stacking, requiring only mild defoliation late in life.
The Heavy Metal Breath flower is deep purple in color thanks to both of the selected parents. This was especially striking because the foliage largely remained green, resembling the father of this cross, the Anvil by Gnome Automatics. Approximately 80% of the plants we tested displayed this purple calyx/green foliage contrast like the Anvil, while about 20% grew to be pure purple across the entire plant, like the Mendo Breath. Morphologically, these plants were consistently shorter-than average–great for height restrictive grows, and the long conical central colas resembled the super-indica Anvil. We were happy to see that the Mendo Breath brought a little breathing room to the cross, eliminating some of the dense foliage, and stretching the plant slightly taller, making it less of a compact bush. By harvest, the vibrant purples and maroons made this strain a total show stopper, with the Mendo’s high-test, high-density, violet-colored trichomes, and the Anvil’s compact, heavy-yielding structure.
Terpenes
Super sour gas terps with earthy funk, sweet spice and zest. Outlier pheno had a sour tropical papaya terps.
Effect
Extremely mentally and physically relaxing. Completely demotivating and contenting, Heavy Metal Breath is a great strain to unwind with. While smoking a lot can put you to sleep, smoking just enough will put you in-da-couch!
Notes from the Grower(s): Heavy Metal Breath is an impressive cross of Mendo Breath (Atlas Seed) and Anvil F7 (Gnome Automatics). When we originally grew out the Anvil, we were so impressed with its sturdy, indica structure, and almost-black, purple flowers. The two things it was lacking were terps and grease. The Mendo Breath was our first pick to embolden these genetics, offering sky-high test results, and loads of gassy grease. The color, potency, and yield of Heavy Metal Breath were exactly what we had hoped to find. Not only did the powerful, gas-forward Mendo terps shine through, but the trichome accumulation on this cross was insane.
Heavy Metal Breath is easy to grow, beautiful, stanky, and strong. We’re excited to share it with you in hopes that you like it just as much as we did!
